• There is a great opportunity of rabbit farming, and if done for commercial production can be a great source of income and employment.

Rabbits need small place for living and less food for surviving. Rabbit meat contains high ratio of protein, energy, calcium and vitamin than any other types of animal meat.

The amount of cholesterol, fat and sodium is also less than other meat. Their meat is very testy, nutritious and easily digestible for all aged and the young people

About The Project

To promote livestock farming in the community

To avail the community with rabbit meat

To increase income among households/members for sustainability

To equipping young people with diverse livelihood skills

To reduce on redundancy of the adolescents

The project will directly benefit all the members of the organized groups within communities; also indirectly benefit the entire Kasese district.

Paying it Forward

Currently, the community income base does not favor many of the families to buy a kilogram of any type of meat compared to the population.

Increasingly some community members in Kasese district have resorted to eat animal intestines and other unhealthy meat commonly known as “NSANGA” from different parts of the country.

Lack of family, lack of social care and lack of access to basic needs contributes to poverty an environment that damages child mental, physical, emotional and spiritual development.

Thus, the project will reach directly and indirectly benefit 10 households. Each household will be given rabbits.

Backstory

People usually raise rabbits as pets. But raising them commercially can be a great source of income and a smart way of employment. The annual demand of meat is increasing rapidly throughout the world. Right now, poultry, beef and pork meat are controlling this huge demand.

Commercial rabbit production can play a very important role to meet up this demand. So, rabbit farming business has a great opportunity to fulfill the food demand for growing population and contribute to food security.
