Quarter Community Toilet project

  • FULLY FUNDED - This important community project will build and install 4 community toilets, 2 stalls for males and 2 stalls for women. It will serve 800 community members. Presently, there are no toilets in the community so unsanitary conditions prevail. Feces  are thrown in plastic into unfinished houses and along the road side. This campaign will help create a MORE SANITARY/CLEANER and healthier enviornment/community for the entire village of 800. It's impact is great.

About The Project

FULLY FUNDED

$1950.00 needed to construct a building that will house 4 toilets
$300.00 will be contributed from 10 CII community members

Projected timeline of toilet project and materials needed:

phase 1 - July 1-20 - clearing, profile, foundation
phase 2 - July 21-31 - purchasing of blocks and laying of blocks
phase 3 - August 1-20 - block laying and digging for the septic tank and installation of the septic tank
phase 4 - August 21-31 - roofing
phase 5 - September 1-12 zinking, installation of windows and doors
phase 6 - September 13-25 plastering of building, erecting commodes, painting, laying of tiles
phase 7- September 26-30 completion of building
phase 8- October 1 Dedication of building

In this very important community project, a building that will house 4 toilets will be constructed for the Joe Quarter community dwellers. With your donation all the materials needed for the toilets, will be purchased septic tanks, windows, doors, foundation, blocks, tile, paint, plaster, manpower. This toilet project will be used by 125 households in the community or 800 members of the community. Above is the timeline for the completion of the project and the cost of building the structure. They have the land ready, which was donated by a community member. 10 community members from the CII old group #4, will donate a total of $300.00 USD towards this project and will manage and maintain the building. Other members of the community contributed not only a parcel of land, but will contribute sand and gravel to the project. Community members also agreed to provide man power to help in the digging for the septic tank for the toilet.

Members of the community is helping each other with this "Let's get it done" campaign. From the donation of land, money , to manpower, sand and gravel, it is evident this project is very important for them.

Backstory

"for over ten years, the Joe Quarter community has been suffering from lack of public toilets" a member from the Joe Quarter village/community wrote. Because of this, the community has been living in unsanitary conditions. Bagged feces are thrown into unfinished buildings at night and along the roadside. The whole community of about 800 will benefit from the community project and help the community live in a more sanitary environment and increase the health and well being of this community. Members will make sure the toilets are upkept.
