LBS Community Charcoal Project

  • FULLY FUNDED- This charcoal project aims to service 2,000 residents and  businesses in the LBS community which has 5,000 residents, 400 homes. The project will buy and  then sell/distribute large quantities of charcoal at low cost to bakers, restauranteurs, cook shops and homes. 90% of the residents depend on charcoal for cooking, baking, ironing etc.

This innovative, thoughtful project is a community project that aims to bring low cost charcoal to the neighborhood's businesses, restaurants, bakers and homes. Your donation will go towards the purchase of 300 bags of charcoal, rental of a warehouse, and the transporting of charcoal to Paynesville. Their goal is to service 2,000 of the 5,000 inhabitants/business owners in the community. As stated earlier and important to highlight, 90% of the residents are dependent on charcoal. They have outlined a warehouse in the King's World Ministries community for the storage of their large quantities of charcoal. The charcoal will be purchased from the interior of nearby counties and transported back to Paynesville. This charcoal business will help the residents in that it will reduce the difficulty of getting charcoal for their homes/businesses and the monies needed for transportation to buy the charcoal. 

The participants future owners of this charcoal business are all business savvy with years of business experience which equates to confidence in the success of this business venture and the development of a thorough business plan.


Paying it Forward

PDC CII participants are now viewed as proximate leaders of their community. They are paying it forward exponentially by visible, concrete changes that are evident ie clean water projects, toilet projects etc. in various communities/villages in Liberia.

The benefits or positive impact to the community is that the residents will not have a shortage of charcoal, the residents do not have to pay for transportation to get the charcoal, they will be able to cook, and have access to the warehouse without difficulty. The charcoal will also be cheaper and affordable for everyone. Another benefit is that 25% of the profit of the project will be given to the owners of this charcoal project to help grow their individual business. Another 20% of profit will be used for community development, 25% brought back to charcoal business and the will allow for employment for a couple of people for security.
