Clean Water for two communities

  • FULLY FUNDED - "Our group voluntarily cleaned up the water well for an entire village of 200 people and now we want to clean up two more water wells.  One well is in the Saw Mill area serving over 550 residents and the other well is in the General Market area serving the general public and will serve thousands.  Our group now knows how to clean up a well and we are contributing not only our expertise and labor but our group will contribute $750 USD of our own funds."

About The Project

FULLY FUNDED

Clean water is a huge problem in Liberia that has not been adequately addressed by the government or philanthropic programs.  But working with the local residents, Liberians working together can get it done NOW!.  Your donation will allow us to purchase the pumps and other materials once the project is moving forward.  

"The project is broken up into four phases that can start as soon as July of this year and we will complete the projects by the end of the year.  We have done this before and feel confident we can succeed again.  There are ten of us in this group that are some of the original families participating in this Peer-driven Change project sponsored by CII.  Please back our self-help efforts!  We will continue to pay our success forward and those benefiting from our work will also then pay it forward helping other Liberians!"


Paying it Forward

This group will continue to use its expertise to help other communities to clean up their wells.  The local residents are committed to also volunteering their time as well as feeding other volunteers as well as storing and securing the materials that will be used.  On the long term the local residents also agree to pay it forward by also helping others to improve their lives.  Liberia will become a community based on sharing and mutuality.

Liberia was the first international site using the Peer-driven approach.  The sponsoring organization for Liberia is the Community Independence Initiative, CII.  The families first enrolled knew that part of the expectation of joining this project is that they would need to pay any success they have ... to pay it forward, a challenge they readily accepted.  The efforts of Liberians helping Liberians is spreading and needs your support.
