$300.00 needed to buy more product and finish her small shop $150.00 contributed by herself/family members
Helena currently sells gari and fufu which are staples in different countries in western Africa. Fufu is like a grounded grain from cassava that can be made into a bread/dumpling which can be eaten with soup and gari grounded can be eaten as a cereal with cold water, added in soups etc. Helena also sells palm nuts, palm oil and red oil. With your investment she would like to add more items to sell such as banana, plantains and coal to expand her business and with the increase in income join a savings group and finish building her shop.
Helena says, "when my profit increases my life will improve"
Paying it Forward
Helena has helped a farmer and another person in their business. She will continue to help others as she makes more income.
LB0059 Helena contributes significantly towards her families household income and their wellbeing. Her income currently is minimal, so she is hoping that being part of CII will help her learn how to understand her business more and understand her business expenses and income. She has 4 children and pays their tuition to go to school. She says the good thing about the schools is that they have qualified teachers. The bad thing is that they are not paid on time. Her goal for this year is to save money so that she can finish building her shop and purchase more items wholesale. " I will go to the rural areas to get more goods like gari, palm nuts, palm oil and fufu, that will increase my profit and I will help other families."
